A Debut Novel in Progress
What We See From Here is a historical fiction novel that follows Noa, an American Jewish woman searching for peace during two pivotal chapters of her life: as a middle-aged mother and professor in 2024, and as a young adult seeking love and purpose in Israel in 2002.
Caught between tending to her aging mother and worrying about her first-born daughter who is away at college, Noa has lost touch with her sense of self. But when she witnesses anti-Israel protests on the campus where she teaches, she is drawn back to her years living in Israel and working for a peacebuilding nonprofit during the Second Intifada. As the past resurfaces, Noa reconnects with the lessons she learned about how peace begins within—and discovers a way to bring those lessons into her present.
Inspired by Ophir’s own experiences in Israel, What We See From Here confronts the complexities of identity and conflict, and provides a hopeful message for anyone seeking to connect deeper with themselves.
